The 8 best TV shows of 2025 that you probably missed, from Hollywood satires to eat-the-rich dramas
There was a glut of fantastic television to binge on in the last 12 months – but with so much to watch, these hidden gems may have escaped your attention…
With another year having past, we’ve been treated to a veritable selection of excellent television to keep us company as we curl up on the sofa of an evening.
The last 12 months have seen the long-awaited return for some firm fan favourites; in addition to more mind-bending office intrigue in the shape of Severance, our small screens also welcomed the return of the spies of Slough House in Slow Horses, as well as the horrors of the Upside Down with Stranger Things. The White Lotus welcomed guests to its Thailand branch during 2025, while our heart rates were subject to a workout thanks to an additional helping of kitchen nightmares in the fourth season of The Bear.
But with so many popular series returning home to our screens, even the most dedicated TV disciple would have struggled to keep up with every fresh new offering. Some sharply-written comedies, thought-provoking dramas and intricately-tangled mysteries have no doubt been lost amongst the television schedules and vast options available on streaming platforms — a consequence of the excessive choice that characterises our modern age.
Thankfully, there’s still time to catch up, particularly if you’re looking for something to do in the lull between Christmas and New Year (and if you're really lucky, a week off in January too). If you’re craving some high quality, prestige television to squeeze in between your watery-eyed festive films, we’ve got a comprehensive list of the very best that may have passed you by in 2025…
